The norse settlers in Greenland


		The Millennium festival July 2000 was only one of several initiatives focused on the norse history in Greenland. Below are two other projects:


RE	CONSTRUCTIONS:
		The reconstruction of a Norse farmhouse of the Landnam/settler type and the copy of the first church in North America, Thjódhildur's Church, have both been built. The reconstructions are situated near the site of the old Brattahlid (present-day Qassiarsuk), South Greenland.


WORLD	HERITAGE LIST:
		The National Museum of Denmark has taken initiative to place an area of 2,952 square kilometers in Narsaq and Qaqortoq Municipalities, South Greenland, on UNESCO's World Heritage List. This area covers the center of the Norse Eastern Settlement, a large number of inuit remains, and a variety of colonial and modern buildings.
