In Sisimiut you will find many skiing possibilities - both alpine and cross-country skiing.
 
Cross-Country Skiing
The area surrounding the town offers great cross-country skiing facilities which are maintained by the ski center of the municipality. Furthermore, it is possible to explore the rough nature on your own in the land between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq.
 
Arctic Circle Race
Every year, Sisimiut is the host of the world's toughest skiing called "Arctic Circle Race", which is a three-day skiing where the participants cover a distance of 160km. Please contact the Sisimiut Tourist Information or the secretariat of the Arctic Circle Race for further information.
 
Ski Lift
The ski slope called "Solbakken" (the sunny hill) lies 6.5km outside the town in a very beautiful area with high hills. Here, you find a ski lift and good hills for alpine skiing and snowboard.

Arctic Circle Race - The toughest race on earth

 
Reserve the week 28th of March - 4th of April 2006 for the ultimate physical challenge, a great experience in nature and fellowship with skiers from all over the world.
On 31th of March the 160-km ski race starts in Sisimiut's eastern landscape. Ahead waits three tough days in spectacular, rough and unpredictable scenery.
